Your role and responsibilities:
At ABB Traction, we're powering the future of sustainable transportation. Locomotives, trams, trains, buses, mining trucks - if it is big and moves, we're powering it. Now, we're looking for a Senior Control Software Engineer to help us design the next generation of traction technologies. You will be mainly accountable for:
1. Developing control software for traction converter projects, empowering our customers to bring their transportation solutions to life.
2. Driving projects from defining software requirements to delivering a fully operational release on the final system, while creating and maintaining software documentation aligned with standards and homologation requirements.
3. Solving complex challenges in real-time simulators, laboratories, and on vehicles at customer sites.
4. Working closely with multidisciplinary teams and supporting commissioning on-site and remotely (10%-20% travel).
5. Creating precise documentation and contributing to advancing our software standard architecture.
6. Providing technical support to colleagues, cross-disciplinary teams, and customers.
Qualifications for the role:
* University (higher education) degree in Electrical Engineering, Control Systems, Computer Science, or similar.
* At least 3 years in closed-loop control, signal processing, algorithm development, or real-time programming.
* Proficiency in MATLAB Simulink or IEC 61131-3 programming languages, a strong understanding of converter control and power electronics, and familiarity with versioning tools such as SVN or Git.
* You are a structured and detail-oriented problem solver, a team player who thrives in collaborative environments, and a quick learner with a creative, solution-driven mindset.
* Fluency in English is required. German is a plus.
