POSITION SUMMARY:
Key Responsibilities:
1. New Product Development:
Electromagnetic analysis of motors resulting in full proposals for customized motors to our internal and external customers. Knowledge of design, including the use of FEA software. Specification review and negotiation, communication of design intent to the customer, design conceptualization and in-depth design analysis.
1. New coil design development and testing.
Prototyping:
1. Lead Design for Reliability activities related to proactive motor design including FMEA, cross-functional design reviews, and development of test plans and equipment.
2. Ensure design work is properly coordinated and documented per the project stages, and prototype processes. Define and/or design, test equipment in the laboratory as well as at the production site for product validation.
Support to Production:
1. Help operations with product and equipment troubleshooting, support failure analysis including discussion with customers, and help resolve vendor quality issues.
2. Support new vendor qualification.
3. Travel to manufacturing site in Mumbai, India, as necessary.
Sales support:
1. Develop and document detailed design requirements, considering customer needs and creating a corresponding technical proposal taking into account technical constraints.
2. Work closely with Product Manager and sourcing to estimate new product cost.
Continuous improvement:
1. Improve processes of the R&D department. Provide the necessary support to the existing product ranges. Follow and improve ISO standards.
Travel:
1. As required, not to exceed 10%. International travel 1-3 times per year.

Essential Competencies Required:
1. Using 3D design software (Solidworks preferred)
2. Knowledge in magnetism and magnetism simulation software (FEMM and COMSOL preferred)
3. Knowledge in motor driving (driver, encoder)
4. Knowledge in design electromechanical systems-motors, generators
5. AMDEC / FMEA analysis
6. Organized and rigorous
7. Able to follow a project plan with time and budget constraints
8. Analytical skills, problem-solving
9. Good oral and written communication
10. Programming skills (Python, LUA, C, Arduino)
11. Knowledge in electronic design (Altium, Eagle)
Requirements for the Position:
1. Education – Engineering degree in mechanical, electrical, electromagnetic, or electronic engineering.
2. Experience – 2 to 6 years of experience in the field of product development and project management would be an advantage. Profile with lower experience can also be considered.
3. Language skills - Fluent in French and English (spoken and written).
Key Relationships:
Internal:
1. Collaborate with motor design teams across sites.
2. Participate in the industrialization of the new product (provide inputs and support to manufacturing engineers).
3. Support sales team to answer customer requests for product customization and new product development.
4. Support operation for quality analysis.
5. Collaborate with sourcing team for validation of new suppliers.
External:
1. Will be in contact with suppliers related to motor parts.
2. Engagement with customers to understand needs and propose technical solutions.
