Job Description
As a member of the Executive Board, the Head of Private Banking is responsible for leading and managing the Private Banking division while contributing to the overall strategic direction and governance of LGT Bank (Switzerland) AG. This role involves driving business growth, enhancing client relationships, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality financial services to clients. Additionally, the role includes participating in executive-level decision-making, governance, and strategic planning for the entire Bank. The main tasks include:
Executive Leadership
1. Contribute to the overall strategic direction and decision-making process of the Bank.
2. Collaborate with other Executive Board members to develop and implement corporate strategies and development initiatives.
3. Collaborate across entities to support the overarching European strategy and initiatives.
4. Provide insights and recommendations on key business issues, drawing from expertise in private banking and wealth management.
Strategic and Commercial Leadership
1. Develop and implement the strategic vision and business plan for the Private Banking division, aligned with the Bank’s overall strategy.
2. Ensure excellence in our commercial approach and in the delivery of our client experience.
3. Identify and pursue new business opportunities to grow the client base and increase market share.
4. Conduct offering & market analysis and benchmarking to enhance offerings and client experience.
Team Leadership and Development
1. Lead, mentor, and develop the private banking team in Zurich, Basel, Berne, Lugano, and Geneva, fostering a high-performance culture.
2. Set performance goals, conduct regular evaluations, and provide feedback and coaching to team members.
3. Promote a collaborative and client-centric environment within the team.
4. Optimize commercial resources and ensure business plan fulfillment.
Client Relationship Management & Business Development
1. Develop and execute strategies to attract and retain clients, enhancing the Bank’s reputation in the Private Banking sector.
2. Oversee the development and implementation of tailored financial products and services.
3. Cooperate closely with other departments for high-quality and efficient services to existing and prospective clients.
Risk Management and Compliance
1. Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements and internal policies, maintaining the highest standards of risk management.
2. Oversee the assessment and management of risks associated with client portfolios and transactions within Business Risk Management as the 1st line of defense.
3. Implement and monitor policies and procedures to safeguard the interests of the Bank and Clients.
Financial Performance
1. Take responsibility for the bank‘s overall results.
2. Manage the financial performance of the Private Banking division, including budgeting, forecasting, and reporting to the Executive Board and the Board of Directors.
3. Analyze financial data to identify trends, opportunities, and areas for improvement.
4. Drive cost efficiency and ensure the division meets or exceeds financial targets and key performance indicators (KPIs).
Governance and Compliance
1. Contribute to the governance framework of the Bank ensuring adherence to best practices in corporate governance and regulatory compliance.
2. Support the CEO and other Board Members in ensuring that the Bank’s operations are conducted with integrity and accountability.
Requirements
Education and Professional Experience
1. Higher education or university degree in business administration or related fields; leadership and management training desirable.
2. Extensive professional experience in a similar C-level role within the banking environment.
3. Proven track record in driving sales and revenue growth in an international environment.
Leadership and Team Building
1. Extensive leadership experience in senior private banking roles in Switzerland or internationally, or in equivalent functions.
2. Experience in leading, mentoring, and developing high-performing sales teams.
3. Demonstrated ability to foster integration, empowerment, and a collaborative mindset within teams.
Client Relationship Management and Market Knowledge
1. Expertise in building and maintaining strong client relationships, particularly with (U)HNWIs.
2. Deep understanding of market trends, client needs, and cross-border offshore markets, especially between Switzerland, Europe, the Middle East, Central & Eastern Europe, and Africa.
3. Extensive knowledge of financial products, services, and wealth management strategies.
Strategic and Business Acumen
1. Expertise in developing and implementing long-term business strategies.
2. Deep understanding of the private banking business, client requirements, business practices, and constraints.
3. Strong business acumen with the ability to set and achieve targets, manage performance, and drive strategic planning.
Communication and Negotiation Skills
1. Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
2. Strong negotiation skills with the ability to close transactions and handle disagreements constructively.
3. Fluent in German and English, both written and spoken; proficiency in French and Italian is an advantage.
