Job Title: Consultant - Online Learning and Education
The United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) seeks a consultant to support the development and facilitation of Master Programs and Post-Graduate Specializations in online learning and education.
About the Position:
In partnership with higher education institutions, UNITAR's Peace Division has designed and implemented programs focused on providing capacity-building solutions for sustainable development. The successful candidate will contribute to creating high-quality e-learning experiences that transform mindsets and broaden perspectives.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Develop outlines, learning objectives, and course structures for Master Programs and Post-Graduate Certificate courses, ensuring alignment with UNITAR and partner institution quality assurance requirements.
2. Create course materials aligned with learning objectives and thematic areas.
3. Design and administer formative and summative assessments for Master Programs and Post-Graduate Certificate courses (ISCED level 7).
4. Evaluate formative and summative assessments according to grading guidelines and frameworks set by UNITAR and partner institutions.
5. Implement synchronous and asynchronous learning tools and activities for the courses.
6. Integrate comments and additional content proposed by UNITAR and partners.
Requirements:
1. A minimum of 3 years of experience in academia, with field experience being an asset.
2. Strong experience in developing, implementing, and facilitating online learning courses at Master program level (ISCED level 7), or experience with course development, implementation, and facilitation for Master Programs and Post Graduate Certificate (ISCED level 7).
3. Familiarity with Moodle and LMS platforms.
4. Experience working on learning addressing at least one of the following thematic areas/fields of expertise: Peace and Security; Humanitarian Action and Peacebuilding; Humanitarian Development and Peacebuilding; The Triple Nexus framework; Electoral Policy and Administration; Climate Security; Global Sustainability; Leadership for Sustainable Development; The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs); and Gender's role in peace facilitation.
Education:
Master's degree required.
Language Skills:
1. Fluency in English is mandatory.
2. Knowledge of other UN languages is an asset.
