**Job Title:** Data and Analytics Engineer
We are looking for a skilled Data and Analytics Engineer to help us build the next generation of our data and analytics systems. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in big data, data analytics, and software engineering.
The role is based in Basel, Switzerland, but we can hire globally due to our international organization status. We welcome applications from candidates of all nationalities located worldwide. Relocation support is available for the successful candidate and their dependent family members.
Purpose of the Role:
The Bank for International Settlements (BIS) supports central banks' pursuit of monetary and financial stability through international cooperation and acts as a bank for central banks. Our mission is to collect and analyze a large array of data and statistics on global financial systems and micro-economic activity.
Our team, MED IT, generates insights used by central banks, financial regulatory institutions, and academia worldwide. However, we aim to collect more diverse data and harness new technology to generate more powerful insights. This is an opportunity to be part of a step change in our capability.

Key Accountabilities:
* You will support the Monetary and Economic Department (MED) in provisioning, developing, and using business applications.
* You will manage MED IT's product portfolio and assume related procurement, contract, budget, and reporting responsibilities.
* You will provide IT/administrative support to MED IT users, customers, and steering committees.
Requirements:
* Graduate degree in computer science or another IT-related technical field or equivalent experience.
* Experience in managing IT products, including budgeting, procuring, and contract management.
* Experience in supporting a large IT customer base (3rd level support), including excellent communication skills.
* Programming skills in languages like Python, C# .NET, Java.
* Experience in working with economic and financial statistics (using data science tools).
* Knowledge and experience working with SQL and various databases.
* Strong analytical skills and passion for solving data challenges are required to be successful in this role.
