Job Description Summary
The BD Excellence Global Director - Maintenance Excellence is responsible for providing leadership and guidance to the BD Excellence teams and site maintenance managers in coordinating the BDX ISC equipment maintenance strategy and asset reliability efforts with the aim to improve asset utilization while reducing operational costs, in alignment with the BD Excellence framework and TPM methodology. Using the appropriate maintenance tactics and reliability tools, this person will support BDX manufacturing sites to reduce downtime and increase the life span of current assets.
This person will also facilitate communication between the OpEx teams and the sites to ensure best practices are shared and equipment reliability issues are resolved and not repeated.
About The Role
As the Global Director BD Excellence - Maintenance Excellence, you will provide leadership and mentorship to our BD Excellence teams and site maintenance managers. Your role will be crucial in aligning our global maintenance strategies with the BD Excellence framework, ensuring flawless execution and continuous improvement across all sites.
Main Responsibilities Will Include
1. Ensuring maintenance metrics are aligned across BD and relevant asset maintenance information is available.
2. Harmonizing maintenance processes and enforcing technical standards across BD.
3. Benchmarking reliability and maintenance practices across BD sites and external references.
4. Driving asset reliability efforts, including preventive maintenance optimization and implementation of reliability-centered maintenance.
5. Supporting root cause failure analysis and optimization of maintenance plans.
6. Implementing alternative maintenance tactics to improve resource optimization and asset uptime.
7. Supporting data-driven maintenance tactics optimization through CMMS.
8. Standardizing MRO and spares management practices across BD.
9. Developing and updating maintenance plans and spare part classifications.
10. Providing input on new equipment designs to ensure efficient availability, maintainability, and reliability.
11. Identifying critical assets and proposing risk management activities.
12. Monitoring and controlling maintenance costs to identify priorities and possible asset modifications.
About You
You are an exceptionally motivated, dynamic, and customer-centric leader with:
1. Minimum B.A./B.S. Degree in Engineering, Science, or Industrial Management (Mechanical Engineering preferred) or equivalent experience.
2. At least 15 years of progressively responsible engineering and management experience.
3. Proven leadership in project and capital management within a multinational company.
4. Solid background in Lean Manufacturing and plant operations.
5. Outstanding ability to drive performance standards and continuous improvement.
6. Experience in reliability-centered maintenance management and implementing maintenance improvement plans.
7. Desirable experience in highly automated companies and supporting new equipment development.
8. Ability to successfully influence people and teams at all levels without direct authority.
9. Experience working in cross-functional environments and/or matrix organizations.
10. Frequent international travel availability up to 70%.
