Technical Design Manager
CHF145-150k base and bonus. Five days onsite, no flex.
An award-winning semiconductor company, developing and manufacturing the world’s leading ultra-low power technology platforms, is looking for a Technical Design Manager to lead its next-generation IoT system-on-chip (SoC) platform design and implementation activities. This role will drive methodology, EDA tools, and the technology roadmap.
About the Role
We are looking for an accomplished leader with a proven track record in managing cross-functional teams to deliver low-power RF/mixed-signal SoCs into high-volume markets—on time, within budget, and to specification.
Reporting directly to the VP of Development, you will:
* Develop and drive company-wide methodologies for efficient SoC development and integration across analog, RF, digital, and software design, including design-for-test (DfT), pre-silicon verification, post-silicon validation, and production testing.
* Leverage industry-standard design flow expertise to define and implement requirements management and traceability throughout the product development flow.
* Lead and manage cross-organizational functional teams (EDA & DevOps, digital physical design, custom layout, etc.) to meet short- and long-term company objectives.
* Define and manage IP & platform roadmaps, ensuring availability across a broad range of product lines.
* Coordinate project schedules with multiple teams to balance priorities and meet deadlines.
* Hire, mentor, and develop top engineering talent to raise the bar in the industry and drive cutting-edge product development.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead team leaders covering 30-35 FTEs, focusing on individual growth and empowerment.
* Drive cross-organizational methodology improvements to enhance design quality and milestone deliverables.
* Collaborate with business units to define next-generation platform and technology roadmaps.
* Work with internal and external IP suppliers to ensure best-in-class IP availability for integration.
* Oversee cross-functional engineering meetings and design reviews.
* Take ownership of crucial design issues, ensuring performance, power, and form factor improvements.
* Establish and refine design processes to continuously enhance performance and quality.
Qualifications
* Strong people manager & coach with a passion for building high-performing teams in a fast-paced, startup-like environment.
* 10+ years of experience in SoC & mixed-signal design, with 5+ years in management roles.
* Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and work effectively across reporting lines.
* Deep understanding of mixed-signal/RF SoCs and industrialization, with a track record of delivering high-volume production.
* Expertise in hardware and software project management, including Agile methodologies. ASPICE certification is a strong plus.
* Excellent communication skills across all organizational levels, with the ability to motivate and align teams to a shared vision. English proficiency required; German or French is a plus.
* Experience with automotive core tools (FMEA, APQP/PPAP) and Zero Defect Strategies is highly desirable.
* Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and multi-tasking abilities.
