We are looking for a senior commodities technology leader to join our dynamic IT department owning all activities for the Metals IT team. This role will report into the CTO (Business Apps), working closely with the Head of Metals and Chief Operations Officer for business alignment.
Collaborating with your peers, you will manage and own the portfolio of work for the Metals Trading business unit, which includes implementation of a new ETRM into the Mercuria landscape to support our Global Metals Trading Desk.
You should have a Metals and Concentrates focused background within a Commodity trading environment, with a proven ability to manage stakeholders to C-Level, and a desire to identify and develop strategic innovative solutions.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage the Metals IT team which includes both internal & 3rd party resources
* Lead the development and execution of the metals trading IT strategy, ensuring alignment with the company's overall business goals
* Collaborate with business stakeholders, understand their requirements and enhance the IT capacity to meet these demands efficiently to build out a strategic vision and roadmap for Metals IT
* Ownership of the delivery of the Metals Transformation Program, leveraging cutting-edge technology and AI to streamline processes and improve efficiency
* Act as a thought-leader in the evaluation and adoption of emerging technologies and practices in the IT metals landscape
* Drive delivery, whilst ensuring quality of low maintenance, high value solutions
* Ensure requirements are correctly interpreted and offer maximum business value
* Represent and promote Mercuria IT, both internally and externally
* Support firm wide initiatives & strategy where required
* 10+ years Commodities experience in a metals trading environment across Base Metals, Refined Metals and Concentrates as well as an expert understanding of their associated key processes such as Assay Mgmt, QP and Logistics
* Proven and demonstrable experience delivering transformational change within a trading environment
* Strong experience working with or in unison with industry leading C/ETRM platforms
* Knowledge of different OTC and Exchange traded instruments and their trade lifecycles
* Stakeholder Management to C-Level
* Understanding technology best practice in terms of engineering and architectural processes
* Strong interpersonal skills – able to build relationships across the firm
* Strategic thinker able to build out a vision and deliver in a complex & challenging landscape
