The Bank for International Settlements is looking for a Senior Dealer to join our Banking Department, in the Interest Rates Group of our Treasury in Basel, Switzerland.
The Banking Department offers a wide range of financial services specifically designed to assist central banks and other official monetary institutions in the management of their foreign exchange reserves, underpinned by the highest standards and professional expertise. Some 180 customers, including various international financial institutions, currently make use of our services.
Principal Accountabilities:
Market-Making and Pricing:
* Perform market-making and pricing activities for central banks and international institutions.
* Calculate and quote prices for BIS products, considering appropriate risk factors.
* Contribute to the definition of a comprehensive and harmonized pricing policy across products and currencies.
Risk Management:
* Hedge interest rate and FX risk arising from customer transactions by dealing in various debt instruments, interest rate and FX derivatives, FX, and cash.
* Make investments in various credit debt instruments and assets within the Bank’s investment framework.
* Conduct and coordinate appropriate credit and market analysis to support investments.
* Take interest rate, FX, and credit risk for the Bank within the unit’s defined risk framework.
* Apply the risk framework in the context of BIS exposure and the Bank’s policies.
Market Analysis and Reporting:
* Monitor and analyse market trends, economic indicators, fiscal and monetary policy, and investment bank research to identify significant developments, potential risks, and opportunities.
* Prepare and present market reports for the Group, central bank customers, departmental management, and senior management.
* Reconcile and explain the Group’s P&L.
* Enhance and develop the trading, reporting, and investment framework.
Project Participation and Relationship Management:
* Participate in ad hoc special projects as a project member or manager.
* Develop and maintain relationships with commercial banks to ensure liquidity and competitive pricing across the Group’s trading products.

Qualifications, skills, and experience:
* University degree in economics, finance, mathematics, physics, or a related field.
* Relevant experience as a trader in interest rate products with a commercial or investment bank.
* In-depth knowledge of a range of investment products (IRS, OIS, futures, cross-currency swaps, money market products) in major financial markets.
* Dynamic and client-oriented with excellent interpersonal skills.
* Excellent organizational skills with strong personal initiative and judgment.
* Flexible and responsible approach to tasks and working hours.
* Capable of working in a multinational/multicultural environment.
* Strong analytical skills, accuracy, perseverance, and ability to cope under pressure.
* Excellent drafting and communication skills in English.
