Major Accountabilities & Tasks
As the Business Unit Head of Medical, you play a pivotal role in driving the maxon group's growth trajectory. Your mandate encompasses spearheading business development and engineering efforts across key market segments. Your mission is to guide the transition from a component provider to a visionary leader in smart drive systems. Through collaborative leadership, performance-driven strategies, and a customer-centric approach, you inspire our global team towards success.
* Drive sustainable and profitable growth within assigned market segments such as Medical Hand tools, Surgical Robotics, Implants and Radiation Equipment, in alignment with the group's strategic objectives.
* Monitor market dynamics to anticipate trends and align maxon's product and service portfolio.
* Collaborate with maxon's corporate and regional marketing teams to elevate the maxon’s brand among industry leaders.
* Ensure compliance with pertinent regulations (e.g., ISO13485, IVDR, IEC 60601, FDA, MDR, Product Safety) and customer contracts, actively supporting the enhancement of safety competencies.
* Spearhead the acquisition, management, and execution of customer-specific development projects in collaboration with production sites and R&D centers.
* Drive platform developments for selected market niches, fostering innovation and competitive advantage.
* Oversee key account and life cycle management initiatives.
* Assume responsibility for budgeting and controlling within the business unit's cost centers, optimizing P&L for development projects and key accounts in collaboration with stakeholders.
* Lead a team of >10 direct reports plus indirect reports in a matrix structure
Your profile
* Higher education in relevant engineering field (MBA/ EMBA or similiar education is an asset)
* 5-10 years of experience in a similar senior management or leadership position, preferably of the Medical Devices Industry
* Extensive international experience
* Experienced with strategy, engineering and product management processes
* Strong marketing and sales background
* Capable of coaching cross functional teams, including all functions
* Strategic thinking, competence in analyzing and managing a matrix environment
* Proven negotiation (contracts, sales), fluent in German (C1-C2) and have communication skills in English (at least C1)
* Good team player with cultural sensitivity
