Job Description: As an Earth Observation Data Scientist intern, you'll lead the development of our new software architecture for processing satellite imagery that integrates with life cycle assessment models. You'll create sophisticated data pipelines and services to gather and analyze EO data from multiple providers. Working closely with our diverse technology and data teams, you'll ensure our innovations align with customer needs and environmental impact goals.
Who are we looking for: We're seeking candidates passionate about using data science to address climate change. You thrive in collaborative environments and approach problems with creativity and adaptability. Our inclusive team values diverse perspectives and innovative thinking. Ideally you have previously worked with satellite images or similar and are familiar with cloud infrastructure using large geospatial datasets. You will operate freely in your task and need to be able to make decisions on your own – always considering the needs of Niatsu and its customers. Tasks
Main Tasks:
* Develop Earth Observation Data pipelines
* Develop microservices using EO data
* You connect new EO services with the existing infrastructure of Niatsu
* You generate new datasets and insights relevant for the food industry.
Side Tasks:
* Test and review new technology.
* Work together with the science team to assure alignment with life cycle assessment models.
Requirements
Must Have:
* Intrinsic motivations to tackle climate change with data science.
* Previous experience with EO data and building systems in the domain.
* You are an expert in python and have experience working with large EO datasets.
* You are capable of independently developing software solutions from proof of concept to production.
* Fluency in English, other languages (e.g. German) advantageous.
Nice to have:
* Previous experience working with LCA data.
