Head of Data Management & DataOps (Hybrid) - Analytics

Hybrid Working Model (3 days in the office, 2 days WFH)

The role:
The Head of Data Management & DataOpsis responsible for transforming the data generated by R&D into an asset for Lonza. You will lead a team of specialized data engineers and will be responsible for the architecture and implementation of software and hardware to interrogate the data collected.
Other responsibilities include defining the standards for data capture based on the current and future scientific needs, and ensuring that the standards are maintained and evolve according to the needs and in compliance with Lonza standards. You will also ensure that data is accessible to all R&D scientists, and tosupport the development and execution of Lonza's innovation strategy; whilstleveraging strong network/expertise with other global data management roles within Lonza.
This is an excellent opportunity to join Lonza and will directly contribute to the advanced research and innovation that Lonza performs. You will also draw upon your previous experience to shape the processes/systems within this area.
Key responsibilities:
1. Leading a team of data engineers responsible for the management of data and knowledge created by the biologics R&D unit.
2. Supporting scientists in structuring data by creating appropriate workflows and capturing the data in a centralized system (e.g.electronic lab notebook).
3. Managing and defining data standards for the R&D department.
4. Managing a hybrid (cloud/on-prem) data storage structure with omics data.
5. Defining and implementing methods to store and access complex and large biological datasets for bioinformatic scientists.
6. Coordinating with other Lonza departments the procedures necessary to exchange data between departments.
Key requirements
7. Bachelor's or Master's degree in computational Field or Bioinformatics.
8. Proven experience working with data in a cloud environment.
9. Professional experience in data management and programming within a scientific environment preferably’.
10. Experience in implementing and managing data infrastructure, including databases (SQL).
11. Experience in cloud computing.
12. Ability to interpret the needs of a team of scientists, to manage their data effectively.
13. Able to manage cross-functional relationships in large corporate structures.
