**ProFee Coder / Auditor Position Summary**
The purpose of this role is to code and audit physician surgical cases, anesthesia cases, and determine appropriate diagnosis, procedure, and modifiers. This position maintains compliance with coding guidelines and client requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Analyze medical records to ensure accurate code assignment using ICD-10-CM diagnosis, CPT procedure codes, ASA codes, and Modifiers.
2. Perform validation audits to verify accuracy of code assignment.
3. Demonstrate expertise in coding and maintain a 95% accuracy rate.
4. Adhere to AHIMA's Standards of Ethical Coding, regulations, and client-specific policies.
5. Maintain productivity according to applicable standards.
6. Complete other duties as assigned based on company needs and client projects.
Requirements:
* Certification(s) / Experience:
1. RHIA, RHIT, CCS, or CCS-P – active and in good standing with AHIMA or
2. CPC – active and in good standing with AAPC
3. Five (5) years of physician-based coding and/or auditing experience.
4. Knowledge of hospital and billing systems.
5. Anesthesia crosswalk experience preferred.
6. Multiple Specialty experience (general surgery, cardiology, neurosurgery).
7. Denials Remediation experience a plus.
8. Effective written and verbal communication skills.
9. Proficient knowledge and understanding of computers and systems.
10. Proficient use of Microsoft Office applications and Electronic Health Record Systems (EHRs).
