**Job Title:** Electrical Engineer - Cable Systems Project Manager
The Engineering Department (EN) pushes back the limits of technology so that physicists can carry out their research. Within the Electrical Engineering (EL) group of the EN department, you will join the Cabling Services Section which ensures electrical interconnections, both signal and power, for numerous components crucial to CERN operation.
You are an experienced electrical engineer looking to take part in the design, planning, installation and maintenance of signal and power cable installations in a large industrial setting? You will contribute to the infrastructures that form the backbone of CERN's accelerator complex.
Functions:
* Lead projects related to the extension, replacement, or dismantling of electrical cable systems, including signal and power cables, ensuring timely delivery within scope;
* Define and manage project parameters such as scope, resources, planning, budget and risks, while providing periodic reports and insights to management;
* Contribute to studies including the definition of cable types, connectors' assembly and routing, in collaboration with users and taking into consideration the constraints of the work environment;
* Propose, develop and implement cabling execution strategies, including structuring the project into phases, reviewing and adjusting the scope, and proposing technical modifications as needed;
* Ensure the preparation of detailed work documentation (e.g., drawings, cable lists) for CERN's contractors, ensuring clarity and compliance with standards for electrical system installations;
* Organize, supervise and ensure safety for cabling activities on the CERN worksites, requiring close on-site interactions with contractors, services and CERN users from other groups and departments;
* Draw up technical specifications, participate to tendering process and manage associated industrial supply contracts;
* Structure and standardize project management within the section, ensuring consistent processes and best practices;
* Supervise and guide members of a small project team, ensuring effective collaboration and alignment with project objectives
Qualifications:
* A Master's degree or equivalent relevant experience in the field of Electrical Engineering or a related field is required;
* Demonstrated experience in managing projects in the domain of electrical infrastructures;
* Strong experience with signal and power cables, including their connectors;
* Experience in supervision of cabling installations, including the preparation of work files, on-site supervision, and acceptance of electrical cabling projects;
* Experience in contract tendering, including drafting technical specifications and evaluating proposals, and in contract management;
* Good knowledge of electromagnetic compatibility considerations related to cable systems.
Technical Competencies:
* Project management
* Design and manufacturing of high-voltage cables and connectors
* Design, construction, commissioning and maintenance of electrical cable systems;
* Technical supervision of installation, service and supply contracts.
Behavioural Competencies:
* Managing Self: Taking initiative beyond regular tasks and making things happen;
* Achieving Results: Driving work/projects along and seeing them through to their conclusion;
* Solving Problems: Anticipating obstacles; assessing alternative solutions to have a fall-back plan;
* Working in Teams: Understanding when teamwork is required to achieve the best results; including others accordingly and sharing information;
* Communicating Effectively: Listening actively to others and letting others speak;
* Language skills: Spoken and written English: ability to understand and speak the other language in professional contexts. Ability to draw up technical specifications and/or scientific reports and to make oral presentations. Ability to understand and speak, or willingness to learn and improve French.
Additional Information:
* This vacancy will be filled as soon as possible, and applications should normally reach us no later than 13.04.2025 at 23:59 CET;
* Eligibility and closing date: Diversity has been an integral part of CERN's mission since its foundation and is an established value of the Organization;

* Participation in a regular stand-by duty, including nights, Sundays and official holidays;
* Work in Radiation Areas;
* Interventions in underground installations;
* A valid driving licence.
This position involves working under specific conditions:
Requirements:
* Valid medical clearance;
* Ability to pass a theoretical and practical training program on radiation protection requirements;
* Willingness to work in areas where radiation levels are higher than background levels and where wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) is necessary.
