Job Summary
The Secondary School Teaching Assistant plays a vital role at ICS by guiding our older students through their path to IB exams, university, and future career choices. They promote learning and personal growth by nurturing students' natural talents as they mature, recognizing their strengths along the way.
Our Secondary Teaching Assistants must demonstrate a strong commitment to maintaining a collaborative culture and supportive environment within the school. They need to understand the social and emotional dimensions of learning, encouraging students to share their joys and concerns while being supported.
Naturally, all our teaching Assistants ensure their practice inside and outside the classroom aligns with the educational philosophy of the school.
Responsibilities
1. Maintain a welcoming atmosphere in an aesthetically pleasing library environment conducive to productive use.
2. Instruct students in proper library use with enthusiasm.
3. Operate and maintain various library equipment, including audiovisual and computer systems.
4. Catalogue and process the library collection; shelve materials, update catalogues, indexes, and lists.
5. Create engaging library exhibits using display boards, posters, and other relevant signage.
6. Contribute to the selection and ordering of library books and materials, researching publishers for best prices and preparing purchase requisitions.
7. Manage and coordinate subscriptions.
8. Coordinate library schedules with staff members.
9. Participate actively in staff and department meetings.
10. Contribute to a positive school climate of collegiality and collaboration.
Requirements
* Experience working in a school library or library-related field, preferably with secondary and high-school-age students.
* Be open-minded, flexible, and team-oriented, willing to learn and take initiative.
* Show empathy towards teachers and enjoy working with teachers, students, and parents.
* Have excellent communication skills and a sense of humor.
* Be comfortable with technology and willing to try new ideas.
* Understand and appreciate International Education and the International Baccalaureate.
