Through the combination of artificial neural networks and innovative robot designs with wheels and legs, RIVR aims to enhance efficiency, sustainability, and scalability in last-mile delivery. Founded as Swiss-Mile, the company rebranded to RIVR in 2025 to better reflect its mission of driving the future of intelligent robotics. Job Description We are seeking a skilled Industrial Designer with a strong focus on UX/UI to join our team of robotic experts. In this role, you will be responsible for bridging functionality and aesthetics, ensuring seamless human-machine interaction, and creating ergonomically optimized, production-ready designs. Your work will play a critical role in scaling our robots from prototype to mass production while maintaining a coherent product language across our portfolio. You will collaborate with experts across multiple disciplines - including mechanical, electrical, software, and production engineering - to translate client needs into practical, manufacturable designs. You will also create mock-ups to test user-robot interactions, develop a unified design language, and optimize designs for real-world assembly. Your work will ensure that our robots are not only highly functional but also intuitive and engaging for users in real-world applications. What You’ll Be Doing Translate client requirements into robot-user interactions and derive ergonomic and usability requirements that improve comfort and efficiency. Bridge functionality and aesthetics in robotic design, sketching possible embodiments that balance usability, aesthetics, and mechanical feasibility. Develop a coherent product language that ensures consistency in form, materials, and user experience across different robots. Create mock-ups and prototypes to test and refine user-robot interactions, integrating findings into final designs. Design mockups and high fidelity UI's for our robot operating tool and user dashboards. Work closely with the hardware team to ensure seamless integration of robotic components, sensors, and mechanical structures into a cohesive product. Collaborate with mechanical engineers, suppliers, and manufacturers to refine designs for mass production scalability. Create and evaluate prototypes to assess usability, safety, and mechanical feasibility. Stay updated on the latest trends in UX/UI, industrial design, and ergonomics, incorporating innovative ideas into RIVR’s product development. What You Must Have Master’s degree in Industrial Design, UX/UI Design, Product Design, Architecture and Design, or a related field. At least 5 years of experience in industrial design with a focus on user experience, ideally within the robotics, automotive, medical devices, sport equipment, or technology sectors. At least 2 years experience shipping web based UI/UX designs. Experience in conducting usability studies for both hardware and software. Strong understanding of mechanical constraints, structural optimization, and product manufacturing processes. Experience in translating user requirements into ergonomic and functional design solutions. Hands-on experience with mock-up creation and user interaction testing. Experience with UX/UI tools such as Figma, Sketch, or Adobe XD. Proficiency in CAD software, specifically SolidWorks, and experience with 3D modeling, rendering, and product visualization tools (Rhino or similar). Familiarity with designing for manufacturability and assembly (DFM/DFA), ensuring smooth transitions from prototype to production. Experience collaborating with manufacturers, suppliers, and production teams to bring designs into scalable production. Proven ability to collaborate with mechanical, electrical, and software teams to ensure seamless hardware integration. Get some bonus points Familiarity with color theory, material finishes, and other design elements that contribute to a strong user experience. Experience with usability studies and testing methodologies for human-machine interaction. RIVR is committed to building a diverse and inclusive team that values every perspective. If you’re passionate about driving innovation in robotics and creating meaningful impact, we encourage you to apply and bring your unique self to our team.
