Job Title: Mechanical Design Engineer (EN-HE-PO-2025-43-GRAE)
CERN is looking for a skilled Mechanical Design Engineer to join their Handling Engineering Group, specifically in the Project Office section.
About the Job
The project office is composed of a multicultural team of mechanical engineers and designers who tackle handling issues and requests in the CERN accelerator complex.
* The successful candidate will supervise the transport and handling aspects of the High Luminosity LHC project.
Key Responsibilities:
Design and Development
* Create 3D models in CATIA of the environment and handling operations.
* Propose tailored solutions to various handling and transport problems.
* Define and design handling tooling.
Project Management
* Follow up on suppliers during the manufacturing phase.
* Manage project planning, resources, and implementation of proposed tooling and methods with the handling teams.
About You
We are looking for a highly skilled mechanical engineer with the following qualifications:
* Proficient knowledge of 3D drafting software (Catia, SolidWorks, Inventor, etc).
* Ability to prepare mechanical calculation notes for safety stakeholders.
* Fluent in English; proficiency in French is an advantage.
Additional Requirements:
* Nationality: A national of a CERN Member or Associate Member State.
* Professional experience: A maximum of two years since graduation in Mechanical Engineering (or a related field).
* Highest educational qualification: Either a Bachelor's or Master's degree.
* No prior CERN fellow or graduate contract.
