As the Manager of the Design Transfer Team (m/f/d), leading a small, dynamic team, you will be responsible for overseeing design and site-to-site transfers, ensuring production scaling, and managing qualification/validation at our Schaffhausen site.
In this role, a typical day will include:
* Personnel and Technical Leadership of the Design Transfer Team.
* Management of design transfer projects at the site level, including launch and ramp-up, ensuring seamless handover of products and processes into the Manufacturing Organization (MTO) while collaborating with R&D to achieve commercial-scale production readiness.
* Coordination of cross-functional projects / project teams, including R&D, Supply Chain, Production, Quality Control, and HSE, while leading the Design Transfer Team and aligning efforts with the Technical Steward Team.
* Preparation of required documentation for validation activities, supporting validation planning and execution, and ensuring compliance with cGMP, HSE, and regulatory standards.
* Initiation and management of change requests for transferred products, identifying and implementing process optimizations and new technologies, and supporting feasibility, regulatory, and validation batches.
* Ensuring operational readiness for inspections, supporting internal and external audits to maintain compliance, and aligning regulatory timelines with design transfers and product launches.
* Team development and management, ensuring the team is well-equipped, trained, and motivated, overseeing career development and succession planning, and managing the implementation of technical training programs.
WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO ALCON:
* Relevant academic background, e.g., a degree in engineering (B.Sc. or M.Sc.), medical technology, or a related technical field.
* Fluent in German and English, with strong communication skills.
* Strong ability to represent the interests of one’s own area while acting as a bridge between different functions with varying goals to ensure alignment and collaboration.
* Extensive experience in design transfer, production scaling, and validation, with in-depth knowledge of regulatory requirements (cGMP, HSE, and other industry standards).
* Proven experience in team leadership and leading cross-functional project teams and managing complex projects, ensuring efficient coordination between R&D, manufacturing, quality, and supply chain.
* Solid technical expertise in manufacturing processes and equipment, with the ability to assess and implement new technologies to enhance operational efficiency.
* Residence and/or work permit in Switzerland.
