Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly experienced Chief Engineer for Space to lead the design, development, and execution of cutting-edge space programs. As the Chief Engineer, you will provide technical leadership, oversee engineering teams, and ensure the delivery of high-performance, reliable space systems that meet mission objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
* Technical Leadership: Serve as the primary technical authority for all space-related projects and systems, ensuring alignment with mission goals and company objectives.
* System Design and Integration: Lead the end-to-end design, integration, and validation of spacecraft, payloads, and supporting systems.
* Team Oversight: Manage and mentor multidisciplinary engineering teams, fostering innovation and technical excellence.
* Strategic Planning: Develop technical roadmaps and strategies for advancing space technology and ensuring competitive advantage.
* Mission Assurance: Establish and oversee rigorous quality and reliability standards to ensure mission success.
* Collaboration: Work closely with program managers, scientists, and external stakeholders to align technical requirements with project milestones.
* Compliance: Ensure all designs and systems adhere to industry standards, safety protocols, and regulatory requirements (e.g., NASA, ESA, FAA).
* Problem-Solving: Identify and resolve technical challenges, leveraging expertise in spacecraft systems, propulsion, avionics, and other space technologies.
Qualifications:
* Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field (Ph.D. preferred).
* Experience: 10+ years of experience in the space industry, with significant leadership in spacecraft development, systems engineering, or mission operations.
* Technical Expertise: Deep understanding of spacecraft subsystems, propulsion systems, avionics, thermal control, structures, and mission design.
* Leadership Skills: Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage large-scale, complex engineering projects.
* Problem Solving: Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, with a track record of overcoming complex engineering challenges.
* Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills for presenting complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.
Preferred Qualifications:
* Hands-on experience with satellite or spacecraft missions, from concept to launch.
* Familiarity with agile development practices and digital engineering tools.
* Experience collaborating with governmental agencies like NASA, ESA, or DoD.
