Mechanical Design Engineer

Your Responsibilities:
The Engineering Department is looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join the Handling Engineering Group in the Project Office section. The project office consists of multicultural mechanical engineers and designers tackling handling issues and requests in the CERN accelerator complex.
We support physicists by transporting equipment to its installation place. Our tasks include volume transport studies, developing tooling or machines, and preparing detailed sequences.
As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will supervise the transport and handling aspects of the High Luminosity LHC project. Your responsibilities will include:
* Creating 3D models in CATIA of environments and handling operations
* Proposing custom solutions to various handling and transport problems
* Designing handling tooling
* Supervising suppliers during manufacturing
* Managing projects: planning, resources, implementing proposed tooling and methods with the handling teams
This position requires on-site work.
Your Profile:
Requirements:
* Proficient knowledge of 3D drafting software (Catia, SolidWorks, Inventor, etc.)
* Ability to prepare mechanical calculation notes for safety stakeholders
* Proficiency in mechanical calculations using Ansys
* Fluent English; French proficiency would be an advantage
* A maximum of two years of professional experience since graduation in Mechanical Engineering (or related field) and either a Bachelor's or Master's degree
* No prior CERN fellow or graduate contract
* Eligibility requires a university degree; PhD holders are not eligible
Contract duration: 24 months, with possible extension up to 36 months maximum.
This role involves:
* Work in Radiation Areas
* Interventions in underground installations
* A valid driving licence
* Work during nights, Sundays, and official holidays when required by the Organization

* A monthly stipend ranging between 5196 and 5716 Swiss Francs (net of tax)
