Automation & Embedded Software Engineer
We are seeking a highly skilled Automation & Embedded Software Engineer to join our team at BOBST Group SA.
This role involves designing, implementing, and maintaining PLC and embedded software applications for our Digital Printing Module. You will participate in adapting existing components or developing new features for existing Digital Printing Module as well as designing next-generation products for the Label and packaging industry.
You will be part of a small team using modern tools and methodology to deliver innovative products in a fast-paced environment.
Main Responsibilities:
* Design, develop, and maintain automated software for different modules of our Digital Printing Modules.
* Enforce the use of shared components across group technology.
* Participate in the extension of the automated test framework.
* Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, and software development teams to propose and implement optimal solutions.
* Work closely with service and commissioning teams to improve the process of testing, installing, configuring machines, and troubleshooting.
* Optimize printing processes to continuously improve their quality and stability.
* Error analysis and troubleshooting of machines on-site or at our customers.
Qualifications:
* Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation, or Computer Science.
* 3-5 years of experience developing PLC applications using structured text language, preferably with Siemens systems.
* Ability to design electrical schematics is an asset.
* Experience with prototype testing and commissioning.
* Good experience with field buses such as Ethercat or Profinet, motion, and safety.
* 2 years of experience developing C codes for embedded electronics.
* Familiarity with state machine and PID regulation.
* Knowledge of C#, WPF, and C++ for desktop applications is an asset.
* Knowledge of digital printing technologies is an asset.
