Senior Specialist Digitalization and Automation
Digitalization and process automation is a crucial step for the manufacturing industry to maintain cost-effectiveness in complex processes amidst an aging workforce and high employee turnover. Connectivity between the manufacturing execution system, machine control systems, and numerous subsystems enables information exchange on production processes.
SIG operates a Service Bus Layer in 11 global plants, comprising software components PTC KepServer, PTC ThingWorx, and GE Historian. This infrastructure facilitates connectivity, automates, monitors, and visualizes processes for employees. The manufacturing execution system will be replaced by SAP Digital Manufacturing over the next few years, necessitating the redesign and rebuild of the interface between the manufacturing execution system and service bus layer.
Key Responsibilities
* Develop and continuously enhance the service bus layer, integrating the manufacturing execution system with production machines and various subsystems to standardize process automation and digitalization.
* Collaborate with business, IT, and system suppliers to create specifications.
* Moderate meetings to develop functionalities within the Service Bus Layer.
* Test new functionalities in the service bus layer.
* Coordinate the roll-out of new functionalities with plant representatives.
* Establish a power user network in plants and train local power users to support daily operations under local responsibility.
* Gather, prioritize, and implement change requirements.
* Monitor system performance in collaboration with SIG-IT.
* Provide 2nd level support for the service bus layer with SIG-IT assistance.
You Bring These Skills, Experience & Education
* Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, preferably focusing on shop floor IT systems, production systems, production management, or related fields.
* 6-10 years of professional experience in relevant IT or production systematics roles.
* Service Bus Layer: Experience with PTC ThingWorx/Kepware and GE Historian is advantageous.
* Object-Oriented Programming: Design and implement functionality within the Service Bus.
* HTML & CSS: Design graphical user interfaces.
* IoT (Internet of Things): Connect, configure, and manage edge devices such as machine PLCs.
* HTTP & REST: Manage communication with other systems.
* Databases (SQL Server & Time Series DBs, e.g., GE Historian): Design data models.
* MS Office Suite, SAP PS/PM, Intranet: Advanced proficiency required.
* English: Essential for global communication as the company language.
* Leadership Experience: 3-5 years of functional leadership within IT or production systematics.
