The Botnar Institute of Immune Engineering (BIIE) is a non-profit research institute focusing on developing translational solutions for treatment, prevention, and diagnostics of diseases relevant in global child & adolescent health. We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Science Communication Assistant to join our team at the BIIE. This role is crucial in enhancing the visibility of our research activities and findings. The ideal candidate will have a passion for science and expertise in creating engaging, accurate, and accessible content for diverse audiences.
Tasks
The key responsibilities of the Science Communications Assistant:
1. Assist in developing and executing communication strategies to effectively disseminate scientific information to the public, media, and other stakeholders.
2. Produce clear and concise content for various platforms such as websites, social media, newsletters, and press releases.
3. Collaborate with researchers to translate complex scientific concepts into accessible and engaging stories.
4. Maintain and update content on the institute’s website, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
5. Support the organization of public outreach activities, including workshops, seminars, and public talks.
6. Monitor and report on the effectiveness of communication activities using analytics tools.
7. Assist in the coordination of media interactions and respond to public inquiries.
Requirements
Core skills and experience expected from the Science Communications Assistant:
1. Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Science, or a related field.
2. Proven experience in science communication, content creation, or journalism.
3. Strong writing and editing skills with an ability to convey complex scientific ideas in an engaging and understandable manner.
4. Proficiency in digital media and content management systems.
5. Excellent organizational and project management skills.
6. Ability to work effectively in a team and independently.
7. Fluency in spoken and written German and English.
