Job Dimension
The Trading Operations team (part of T&S) is essential in the trading organisation and requires reliable and committed people who thrive working in a fast-paced and real time environment. As a Trading Operator, you will be closely working with traders and counterparties to coordinate all aspects of the post-deal trading activity from trade inception to completion.
What you will do
* Coordinate logistics of all loading/discharging by sea and/or overland and avoid/mitigate any potential hazardous situations.
* Follow up the vessels chartered by the Group (spot, COA or T/C) and optimize the rotations and loading plans.
* Nominate essential service providers (independent inspectors, loss controllers, additive suppliers etc.) and control the accuracy and consistency of the obtained results.
* Ensure storage and process contracts are diligently managed (quantities/qualities/financial exposure/customs etc.).
* Identify the cause of any encountered operational problems and ensure resolution through coordination with all affected stakeholders, mitigating costs and consequences for the Group.
* Obtain financial guarantees from counterparties, control and/or amend them before cargo loading/unloading, in conjunction with the Credit department.
* Evaluate all the costs derived from transactions and communicate all operational data having a financial impact on Trading results (prices, hedges, freight, currency…).
* Verify the coherence and the feasibility of Trading negotiations and formalize commercial contracts.
* Submit damage reports to the insurers and compile and follow claim files.
* Ensure compliance with all regulatory aspects (REACH, Customs, VAT etc.) in collaboration with respective support departments.
* Ensure compliance with vetting procedures for seagoing vessels and barges.
* Adhere to HSE, Code of Conduct, Business Integrity and all other applicable company policies and procedures at all times.
* Manage the invoicing and payment process and recovery of funds when applicable.
* As an experienced Trading Operator, you will also:
* Participate in projects to simplify and streamline all operational flows sustainably and through innovative new tools and procedures.
* Seek value-add opportunities through market intelligence and optimisation of logistics and trading deals, in conjunction with Traders and all other relevant stakeholders.
* In due course, you will also train and mentor more junior staff.
Qualifications:
* You hold a Bachelor or Master degree in a relevant field (Business, Engineering, Logistics, Trading & Commodities etc.) and have ideally minimum 5 years of professional experience in physical oil operations. We are also open to consider profiles with operations background gained within the soft or hard commodities industry.
* You have good practical knowledge of Legal and Contractual aspects (Incoterms, Customs & Excise and VAT), Finance (Credit, Cost Control, Treasury), Shipping (Vetting and Waterborne Transport), Quality and Loss Control.
* You have a good understanding of Oil Markets and Price Risk Management.
* You have excellent organizational and problem solving skills, solid negotiation skills, solution-oriented attitude, collaborative mind-set, proactivity.
* Ability to seize the big picture perspective. Strong sense of accountability and commitment.
* Fluent in English, French and any other language considered as a plus.
