As we continue to scale, we are seeking a highly skilled Senior Accountant to oversee and optimize our accounting functions, with the opportunity to take on increasing responsibilities as our organization grows. The Senior Accountant will play a critical role in managing all accounting functions across our property operations and affiliated entities. This role requires a high-caliber professional with a deep understanding of financial reporting, compliance, and strategic financial planning. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership potential, the ability to implement scalable financial systems, and a keen eye for process improvement. Responsibilities Oversee the full-cycle accounting process for all entities, including financial reporting, reconciliations, and month-end/year-end close procedures. Ensure accuracy and compliance with GAAP, tax regulations, and internal financial policies. Manage intercompany transactions and consolidations across multiple entities. Prepare and analyze financial statements, providing insights to the executive team for strategic decision-making. Develop financial models and projections to support growth initiatives and operational efficiency. Assist in the preparation of investor reports and presentations. Process Improvement & Scalability: Implement and optimize accounting systems, policies, and procedures to support a growing organization. Streamline financial workflows to enhance accuracy and efficiency in reporting. Identify areas for automation and digital integration within the accounting functions. Compliance & Risk Management: Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations related to property management and real estate investments. Coordinate with external tax professionals and financial institutions as needed. Manage insurance and financial risk across all entities. Leadership & Team Development: Act as a strategic financial partner to senior leadership, providing actionable insights and recommendations. Oversee accounts payable, receivable, and payroll functions, ensuring timely and accurate processing. Plan for and participate in the hiring and training of additional accounting staff to support future growth. Source local and institutional debt for purchase and refinance transactions. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA or CMA preferred). 5+ years of accounting experience, preferably in real estate, property management, or related industries. Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and internal controls. Experience in accounting for manufactured housing communities is a plus but not required. Advanced proficiency in accounting software (such as QuickBooks, AppFolio, Yardi, Rent Manager or similar) and Excel. Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and organizational skills. Ability to work independently and proactively in a fast-paced environment. Strong leadership potential with a proactive mindset toward growth and strategic financial planning. This is a remote position; being located in the southeast or central/eastern time zone would be helpful.
