Location: This is a full-time position with on-site presence at our office in central Zurich, Switzerland.
Job Summary
At BLP, the DevOps role is viewed as a software engineering position with a focus on systems skills. We value a highly structured and organised approach, thoroughness, and a solid understanding of core software engineering principles. Technology-wise, we leverage a modern tech stack that includes Python, TypeScript, Go, Terraform, Docker, and Microservices on a Kubernetes Cluster, deployed as Software-as-a-Service on GCP. You will commonly work on topics such as:
* Development and oversight of our K8s cluster (e.g. monitoring and alerting, security enhancements),
* Development and maintenance of our cloud resources (e.g. identifying systems that meet our needs, maintaining and provisioning infrastructure, optimising costs),
* Improvement of local development processes: providing the necessary tooling and maintaining build systems and CI pipelines.
Key Responsibilities:
* Analyse, understand and bring solutions to complex problems.
* Design and implement clean and maintainable software solutions, processes and systems that our applications run on.
* Lead code reviews, provide guidance to team members, and ensure the overall quality and consistency of the codebase.
Requirements:
* Hold a Master’s Degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
* Have a strong understanding of virtualization and networking.
* Be proficient with Kubernetes, Terraform & GCP.
* Be proficient with at least one general purpose programming language.
* Software Craftsmanship: Solid understanding and appreciation of software development principles and clean code.
Nice to Have:
* Ideally, bring in-depth knowledge in a particular field/technology relevant to us (e.g. programming languages, operating systems, database systems, security, K8s, etc.).
