Job Title: Design Manager (Maternity Cover)
This is a six-month maternity cover, commencing in the summer. The Design Manager reports to the Director of Design & Technical Services.
The position coordinates the design development process on an established schedule within approved parameters. He/She supports the implementation of Aman's standards and brand objectives through a focus on superior design strategies and solutions.
Responsibilities
1. Communication and Collaboration: Develop and maintain strong relationships with Project Consultants and Aman Corporate teams in a collaborative, team-focused manner that adds value to projects.
2. Project Formulation: Assist in the early formulation and feasibility stages of a project.
3. Technical Services Guidance: Provide guidance on Technical Services, attend project coordination workshops, ensure adherence to brand standards, and assist design and engineering consultant teams to develop the approved project design through to working drawings.
4. Design Review: Assist in reviewing design consultant submitted drawings and specifications.
5. Project Scheduling: Develop and track project schedules.
6. Issue Resolution: Identify, work to resolve and communicate project-related issues and resolutions.
7. Progress Reporting: Assist with Initial Project Reviews (IPRs) and prepare Project Progress Reports (PPRs).
8. Site Visits: Conduct site visits and prepare visit reports.
9. Project Status Update: Accurately communicate project status. Update the Director of Design & Technical Services on a regular basis and provide projections for all design aspects and program delivery.
10. Corporate Brand Standards: Assist with ongoing development of corporate brand standards and process frameworks.
Qualifications
1. Educational Background: University degree in Architecture or Interior Design.
2. Professional Experience: Minimum 5+ years professional experience.
3. Consultant Coordination: Experience with coordinating consultants (Civil, MEP, Landscape, ID, etc.) on large-scale developments.
4. Luxury Hotel and Resorts Project Delivery: Familiarity with all aspects of luxury hotel and resorts project delivery. Technical Services background with luxury hotel operator preferred.
5. Languages: Fluent in written and spoken English (additional languages desirable).
6. Software Proficiency: Proficiency in AutoCad, SketchUp, Lumion, MS Office, Adobe Suite, knowledge of ReVu desirable.
7. Office Management Systems: Familiarity and interest in office management systems and procedures.
8. Collaboration Skills: Ability to collaborate effectively with multi-national professional teams across multiple projects running concurrently.
9. Communication Skills: Excellent communication skills and efficient transmission of instructions, feedback, vision and understanding of broader project team members' needs.
10. Problem Solving: Ability to generate innovative solutions through resourceful problem solving.
11. Work Ethic: Strong work ethic and cultural sensitivity.
12. Travel Requirements: Willing to travel.
