Job Description
Your responsibilities
Join our BE-CEM group and work on developing SAMbuCa, a high-performance Sensors Acquisition and Motion Control system designed to meet stringent quality and reliability standards. To achieve this, we are looking for an experienced Electronics/Reliability Engineer to ensure that the electronic boards and overall system meet performance and reliability expectations.
You will play a critical role throughout the system engineering design process, aligning with RAMS (Reliability, Availability, Maintainability, and Safety) standards. Responsibilities include defining reliability requirements during the initial design phase, performing detailed failure modes and effects analysis (FMEA), and conducting safety assessments of the complete system.
Specifically, you will:
* Review and optimize electronic boards and systems to meet rigorous performance and durability demands.
* Conduct thermal simulations using Ansys to address thermal challenges and ensure optimal operation under varied conditions.
* Perform reliability simulations, failure prediction modelling, and environmental testing to validate designs.
* Develop and analyze environmental and stress test requirements, defining test scope and coverage, and ensuring comprehensive testing to meet reliability objectives.
* Conduct detailed data analysis and create clear reports to inform design improvements and ensure compliance with requirements.
* Establish and implement reliability guidelines for pre-production and production phases.
* Monitor system performance during operation and refine designs based on real-world data.

About us
At CERN, the European Organization for Nuclear Research, physicists and engineers are probing the fundamental structure of the universe. Using the world's largest and most complex scientific instruments, they study the basic constituents of matter - fundamental particles that are made to collide together at close to the speed of light. The process gives physicists clues about how particles interact and provides insights into the fundamental laws of nature. Find out more on http://home.cern.
