Duty Station: Remote-based with some mission travels to Geneva, Barcelona and countries working with Giga

The Office of Innovation (OoI) is a critical driver of UNICEF's mission, leveraging expertise and resources from across the organization and its partners to address key challenges facing children worldwide. By continuously ideating, testing, and scaling the most impactful solutions, the OoI plays a pivotal role in advancing the Sustainable Development Goals related to children.
Giga (giga.global), an initiative launched in 2019 as a joint effort between UNICEF and ITU (itu.int), seeks to connect every school in the world to the internet, thereby addressing the growing digital divide. With over 75 years of experience in delivering emergency assistance, technical advice, and building systems in health, education, and child protection, UNICEF, through Giga, aims to provide children with access to information, opportunity, and choice.
The goal is to create engaging, research-driven materials outlining investment concepts and case studies in technologies and areas with high potential for improving connectivity in schools and communities. The reports will highlight the potential for Giga's tools for pricing and monitoring connectivity to be used in developing and monitoring such investments.
Maintaining Giga's neutrality and policy of non-endorsement, these reports will be produced for illustrative purposes to highlight market characteristics and areas of opportunity, without endorsing or favoring any particular technology or entity.
Responsibilities:
* Conducting market research and needs assessments in targeted regions and technologies.
* Developing hypothetical and actionable investment concepts and strategies.
* Preparing investment cases for business models aligned with Giga's objectives.
* Compiling findings into market intelligence reports tailored to specific regions or technologies.
* Engaging with stakeholders to refine findings and reports.
Requirements:
* An advanced university degree in business administration, Technology Management, or a related field.
* Minimum 8 years of professional experience in business development and strategic advisory roles related to telecommunications and connectivity investment.
* Extensive experience in market research, intelligence, and analysis.
* Strong background in telecommunications and connectivity projects.
* Proven track record of developing investment strategies and market reports.
* Familiarity with DFI/IFI upstream development model is desirable.
