At Bavarian Nordic Berna, the Swiss affiliate, there are - beside manufacturing activities - professionals in Quality Assurance, Quality Control, Supply Chain, and Regulatory affairs working. On the Swiss site in Thörishaus / Bern, there are +200 dedicated and committed professionals working locally and globally.
Due to an upcoming role change of the current incumbent, we are looking to strengthen our QC Management Team with a
Manager QC Microbiology (f/m/d)
Main responsibilities
1. Responsible for managing testing activities in the QC Microbiology team to deliver correct results on time in full under cGMP.
2. Manages a team of about 6 analysts to achieve the defined goals.
3. Accountable for inspection readiness of his/her organization.
4. Major methods are potency assays based on cell count, bioburden testing, microbiological purity tests, ID testing, environmental and utility testing.
5. Establishing, maintaining, and improving a balanced sample flow process to ensure on-time delivery.
6. Establishing, maintaining, and improving a service catalogue with predefined turn-around times and standard costs agreed with the customer.
7. Ensures timely and cost-effective testing of samples at required cGMP level.
8. Implementing a KPI system to measure and improve lab performance towards the defined service elements and compliance requirements.
9. Weekly planning of lab workload and analyst work planning.
10. Establishing and maintaining a skill matrix to ensure availability of sufficient resources to cover the workload.
11. Ensures development and support of employees including performance management.
Minimum Requirements:
1. University degree in natural science (Biology or any other).
2. At least 7-10 years QC Lab experience in biologics and GMP.
3. Excellent skills and practical work experience on analytics.
4. Expert knowledge of local and global cGMP requirements.
5. Experienced in Health Authority Inspections.
6. High-level motivation on managing a Lab autonomously and a strong focus on deliverables.
7. Multilingual - at least German and English, written and spoken.
