Position: Engineering and Facilities Manager
The Engineering and Facilities Manager oversees the Technical Support and Engineering teams, providing technical expertise for all Rockland processes and products. This role ensures the deployment of engineering and maintenance assets to support organizational goals and operational effectiveness.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Collaborate with R&D to develop new products, ensuring high manufacturability and effective troubleshooting resources.
2. Maintain manufacturing processes, deploying resources effectively to ensure maximum uptime and availability of equipment.
3. Evaluate and implement preventive and predictive maintenance processes to optimize equipment performance.
4. Ensure compliance with safety regulations for all equipment.
5. Participate in offsite agarose production maintenance and equipment changes.
6. Verify proper functioning and maintenance of facility systems.
7. Oversight facility maintenance contracts, contractor operations, and safety.
8. Provide guidance on facility preventative maintenance, calibration, and record-keeping.
9. Optimize facility purchasing to minimize expense and inventory.
10. Manage spending at the site, striving for high asset utilization and optimal capital vs. expense tradeoffs.
11. Develop short-term and long-term capital expenditure needs for Rockland facilities.
12. Lead project planning for each CAPEX spend.
13. Identify opportunities for increased efficiencies, cost savings, or program enhancements.
14. Promote business goals, mission, and strategy to staff as part of the Rockland Leadership Team.
15. Develop and manage annual budgets in areas of responsibility.
16. Review resource requirements, adjust manning levels, and develop personnel according to business needs.
Key Requirements:
1. Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or Engineering.
2. 5+ years of Engineering experience in biotech, pharma, or related industries, discrete manufacturing, and chemical process management.
3. Project management skills and experience.
4. Working knowledge of ISO 9001 standards or similar quality systems.
5. Familiarity with OSHA and NFPA requirements.
6. Strong leadership and facilitation skills.
7. Effective problem-solving and organizational skills, fostering teamwork and collaboration.
8. Motivate and develop team members.
9. Strong procurement and contract negotiation skills.
