Job Description
Zurich International School (ZIS) is a learning community of students, faculty, staff, and parents. At ZIS, educational excellence commits us to Learn, Care, Challenge, Lead. We provide a caring environment for the social, emotional, physical, and intellectual development of our students. We value diversity and plurality of voices, and are committed to ensuring our students develop the intellect, skills and character to become caring individuals and adaptable and independent thinkers.
The most significant impact on student learning is the quality of the teaching they experience - great teachers develop great learners. We are looking for a highly motivated, team-oriented educator who is aligned with our mission and vision, and is eager to contribute to the ongoing development of our programme. Learner-centered candidates with a growth mindset and a commitment to ongoing professional growth are encouraged to apply. For more information about our school and our philosophy visit: www.zis.ch.
ZIS launched a bilingual pathway in August 2021. The pathway, which meets the requirements of the Swiss Lehrplan 21 curriculum combined with our own robust international curriculum, has now grown to include classes from Early Childhood through to Grade 4, with Grade 5 opening in August 2025. The pathway will include students up to Grade 9 in the coming years. The Bilingual Pathway is offered as an alternative pathway to our full international pathway. German speaking and bilingual homeroom teachers are part of our extended international grade level teaching team.
We are now seeking an additional experienced German speaking Kindergarten homeroom teacher who is excited by the challenge and benefits of working in an international environment. The position includes planning time, ongoing professional development, and international networking opportunities. The arts and physical education will be taught by subject specialists. Extensive student support services are available to support the needs of all students, and a full-time Assistant Teacher will be working in partnership with the homeroom teacher.
Qualifications:
Teacher applicants must have at least 2-3 years of previous Kindergarten teaching experience, preferably in a bilingual school. Teaching certification is required. Applicants must furnish evidence of:
* German speaker C2 with ability to teach in German, with proficient level of English.
* Teaching license including early childhood specialism, ideally an EDK qualification.
* Documented record of excellence in teaching.
* Learner-centered focus.
* Commitment to ongoing professional development.
* Ability to differentiate for diverse learning needs, including students with multiple language learning needs.
* Establishing strong partnerships with parents.
* Teamwork, collaboration, and active participation in school life.
