Job TypeFull-timeDescriptionFunction:Reporting to the Grants Accounting Supervisor, the Grants Accountant is responsible for accounting, maintaining/building relationships with the Grants Managers and related departments, and other general accounting tasks.Representative Duties:Grants Accounting ResponsibilitiesGrants invoicing and receivables including:Preparing and submitting monthly, quarterly, and annual invoices and reportsReconciling grant invoice discrepanciesInterfacing with funder personnel to resolve any issues surrounding invoicesFollowing up with funders to ensure timely collection of receivables and review aged ARAccounting and Financial ManagementWorking with finance, compliance, accounting, and other grants staff to:Prepare timely and accurate journal entries and reconciliationsEnsure compliance and adherence to GAAP, Uniform Administrative Guidance Title 2 CFR 200, and other funder specific regulationsWorking with Grants Managers, Program Managers, and related departments to ensure contract and program related activities align to support grant accounting and reportingMonitoring and analyzing grant and contract financial results for spend-down and compliancePreparing, monitoring, and modifying program budgets in conjunction with program personnelPreparing for and assisting in grant financial audits and site visitsOther Accounting ResponsibilitiesAssist in the bi-weekly processing of payrollPerform month-end tasks assigned by the Accounting Manager to include journal entries, reconciliations, and other related tasksMeets Agency Participatory ExpectationsSuggests and participates in continuing quality improvement effortsAdheres to all agency and departmental policies and proceduresParticipates in quality assessment and improvement activities as requestedAdheres to the highest principles of patient and client confidentialityAdheres to established safety policies, procedures, and precautions; identifies potential or actual unsafe situations in the environment and takes measures to rectify the situationAttends all required meetings, in-services, and professional trainingsAttends all regularly scheduled research meetings, trainings, forums and pertinent FCH staff meetingsMaintains professional competence necessary to perform job responsibilities; maintains and provides agency with records of continuing education activitiesServes on agency committees and in professional organizations when requestedPerforms other related duties as requiredRequirementsAbility to work harmoniously and effectively with colleagues, patients, clients and vendors across the spectrum of diversity, including but not limited to race, ethnicity, color, gender identity, sexual orientation, age, socio-economic status, national origin and immigrant status, religious or spiritual identity, disability (physical, mental, emotional and developmental), veteran status, and/or limited English proficiency.Willingness to contribute towards Fenway’s efforts in becoming an anti-racist organization and promoting a culture dedicated to ongoing development in service of humility, equity, diversity, inclusion, and belonging, where differences are acknowledged and valued.Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field1+ years of relevant grants and general accounting experienceEstablished knowledge base of grants and general accounting fundamentalsPreferred Qualifications:General understanding of Oracle Fusion ERP and/or EPMExperience with not-for-profits and healthcareStrong analytical skills and the ability to communicate results to various partnersAbility to meet the following physical requirements with or without reasonable accommodations:Sit at a computer station for extended periods of timeAbility to keyboard for extended periods of timeThis is a union position in a Fenway Health bargaining unit represented by 1199 SEIU United Healthcare Workers East.We offer competitive salaries, and for those who qualify, an excellent benefits package; including comprehensive medical and dental insurance plans, and a retirement plan with employer match.
