This role is part of the Manufacturing Engineering department in NKT Photonics, a dynamic, international high-tech company and leader in the development, manufacturing, and supply of high-performance lasers and photonic crystal fibers.
About the Position
In this position, you will be responsible for developing, evaluating, maintaining, and continuously improving existing and new manufacturing processes for our assembly & laser alignment production lines.
Your key responsibilities:
1. Automate test procedures and optimize and standardize assembly procedures for assembly and alignment of laser systems.
2. Maintain, control, and improve full production flow, interfaces between different departments, Bill-of-Material and work instructions during product lifecycle.
3. Train and mentor production personnel on new processes and equipment.
4. Conduct time studies and analyze data to identify bottlenecks and areas for process improvement.
5. Monitor and analyze production metrics to identify opportunities for increased efficiency and cost reduction.
6. Lead contact from Operations during NPI phase.
7. Prototype builds.
8. Develop and implement new and/or adapted manufacturing processes.
9. Employee training.
10. Identify and document process issues and initiate improvement actions.
You will report to the Manufacturing Engineering Manager and interface with R&D team for new product introduction and engineering support and Interface with Production team.
Qualifications - Skills – Experience
To be successful in this role, you should have:
1. A Master's degree in Manufacturing Engineering or Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
2. Proficient in process optimization techniques, such as Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma.
3. An in-depth understanding of manufacturing processes and quality control principles.
4. A hands-on, analytical, and target-oriented work attitude.
5. A strong attention to detail and commitment to deliver high-quality products.
6. At least 5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
7. Proficient with CAD – SolidWorks preferred.
8. Experience with Quality Management systems.
9. Experience in working in cleanroom and electronics environment is a plus.
10. Experience with ISO 9001 and 13485 is a plus.
11. CNC machining experience is a plus.
