Your role
Your PhD work is embedded into a project funded by the Swiss National Science Foundation. Topic of this project is to develop numerical simulations for perovskite semiconductor devices that allow to describe the results of AFM-based nanoscale characterization. The goal is to clearly relate nanoscale features to device performance. You would focus on the modelling part of both devices and nanoscale measurements in close collaboration with a PhD student, who takes over the experimental part of the project.
Potential tasks are:
* Using numerical device modeling software to simulate the optoelectronic response of solar cells
* Developing a more-dimensional model taking into account the nanostructure of films and the geometry of the AFM experiment
* Optoelectronic and spectroscopic characterization on the device and nanoscale
* Identifying and formulating open research questions
* Presenting and publishing your research results
Your profile
* Ideally, in your Master thesis or a research project, you gained already experience in numerical modeling of semiconductor devices
* You have a solid background in semiconductor physics or are highly motivated in obtaining it
* You enjoy working in a team but at the same time like carrying out tasks independently
