Job Title: Cost Engineer
Key Role Statement:
The Cost Engineer will manage and coordinate cost-controlling activities and cost reporting for the project as part of the project controls team. This role requires on-site presence in Visp for a minimum of four days per week and is not a hybrid position.
Deliverables:
1. Prepare cost control reports, including but not limited to budgets, commitments, Value of Work Done, forecasting, CapEx expenditure, contingency management, variance analysis, and monthly project reporting.
2. Create and maintain personnel staffing plans, collect SAP actuals, and collaborate with project management to update future personnel requirements. Interpret data and develop presentation materials to demonstrate status, changes, and projections effectively.
3. Provide input to support project changes and ensure costs are accurately captured in cost reports. Promote a culture of cost awareness and communication within the team to ensure data accuracy and a 'no surprises' approach.
4. Ensure correct Cost Breakdown Structure (CBS) coding is used for all requisitions, purchase orders, and invoices.
5. Ensure budget holders are fully aware of their budgets and the cost process through continuous communication and support.
6. Analyze data to identify variances from the plan and assess the impact of actual performance on total installed costs.
7. Participate in project delivery team and functional team meetings and workshops as required.
8. Respond to ad hoc requests for data, data analysis, and presentation materials.
9. Provide support to the project controls functional group as needed.
10. Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
1. Education: Degree or advanced degree from an accredited institution. Preferred fields include Engineering, Science, Quantity Surveying, or Business Management, or equivalent experience.
2. Language: Excellent command of English is required; business fluency in German is an advantage.
3. Experience: Minimum of 10 years of experience as a cost engineer on large-scale (≥ 250 Mio CHF) pharmaceutical projects.
4. Strong ability to interpret cost data efficiently and communicate relevant insights to senior management.
5. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, along with strong interpersonal and influencing abilities.
6. Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
7. Experience with SAP, SAP Ariba, and Oracle Primavera Unifier is desirable.
8. Experience working in a global environment.
9. Knowledge of pharmaceutical projects involving Engineering, Procurement, Construction, and Commissioning (EPCC) contracts.
10. Strong analytical skills, with the ability to analyze large datasets, draw meaningful conclusions, and support informed decision-making.
11. Ability to manage ambiguity, adapt to shifting priorities, and meet changing demands.
12. Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and execute tasks in a fast-paced environment.
