The mission of the Junior Derivatives Trader is to support our trading strategies by executing and analyzing trades in precious metals and FX derivatives. The job holder will collaborate closely with senior traders to manage risks and stay updated on market trends, ensuring effective trade execution and compliance while maintaining our competitive edge by applying insights to develop profitable trading strategies.
MAIN ACTIVITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Trade Execution and Support:
* Assist in executing and booking client/in-house orders for options on precious metals and FX.
* Work closely with senior traders to execute strategies based on market trends and client needs.
* Ensure volatility surfaces are up to date.
Market Analysis:
* Monitor and analyze market conditions, trends, and news related to precious metals (e.g., geopolitical events, central bank actions, or inflation data).
* Track volatility and market liquidity for precious metal options.
* Assist in assessing how broader economic factors impact the precious metals market and option pricing.
* Support Senior Options Trader in assessing and managing risks related to options positions.
* Help ensure adherence to risk parameters and company policies.
* Use risk management tools and techniques to monitor exposure and potential losses.
* Assist in investigating PnL or position discrepancies as and when they occur.
Pricing and Strategy:
* Help in pricing vanilla and exotic options, understand pricing models and volatility surface construction.
* Assist in developing, back-testing, and implementing profitable options trading strategies.
* Generate trade ideas for clients.
Data Analysis and Reporting:
* Analyze trading data to identify patterns or anomalies.
* Prepare regular reports on market trends, trading performance, and P&L.
Collaboration with Other Teams:
* Work with other departments like risk management, compliance, and operations to ensure smooth trading operations.
* Coordinate with research teams to gather relevant market insights.
* Stay updated with industry trends, new financial products, and the regulatory environment surrounding options trading.
* Participate in training to improve trading skills and market knowledge.
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
* A bachelor's degree in finance, economics, mathematics, or a related field.
* At least 2-3 years of trading experience in financial markets or commodities.
* Proficiency in Trading Platforms: Familiarity with trading software and platforms used in the precious metals market.
* Knowledge of Precious Metals Markets: Understanding how external factors like global economic conditions, interest rates, and commodity demand impact precious metals prices.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
* Strong Analytical Skills: Ability to assess market data, trends, and pricing models for options.
* Quantitative Aptitude: Basic knowledge of financial mathematics, including understanding volatility and option pricing models.
* Attention to Detail: Ensure accuracy when entering trades, monitoring positions, and assessing risk.
* Strong Communication Skills: Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and effectively communicate with senior traders and other departments.
* Sense of responsibility and initiative.
