Job Description: JOB PURPOSE
An exciting opportunity exists for a world-class 2nd Electro-Technical Officer to join our newly created luxury travel brand “Explora Journeys” and assure the safe and efficient control and maintenance of the ship.
The 2nd Electro-Technical Officer reports directly to the 1st Electro-Technical Officer on all issues pertaining to the specific area designated to them. They will manage the Electrical Fitters and Assistant Electrical Fitters assigned to their area, being available to assist with any issues as and when requested.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
Consult regularly with the 1st Electro-Technical Officer concerning methods and procedures for the maintenance and upkeep of the electrical equipment.
Monitor, control, and troubleshoot all electrical equipment and systems machinery as directed by the 1st Electro-Technical Officer.
Immediately report all electrical equipment damage or malfunction to the 1st Electro-Technical Officer.
Assign daily maintenance and repair duties to junior members of the electrical department and actively supervise team members in performing these duties.
Responsible for repairs and maintenance of the following systems:
Main Engines - Including routine safety shutdown tests
Elevators - Including weekly safety checks
General Hotel systems – Including automatic doors
Bridge Systems – As directed and in collaboration with the 1st Electro-Technical Officer
Oversee the safe operation of all Electro-Technical machinery at all times.
Verify that all Electro-Technical aspects of port health authority requirements, policies, and guidelines are met.
Perform all duties in accordance with applicable policies, procedures, Company Regulations, and other internal, external, and governmental regulations.
Complete work permits and risk assessments accurately for electrical team tasks.
VISA REQUIREMENTS (if any)
Certificate of Competence III/6 ETO.
Satisfy the health and physical requirements of the Flag State of the Ship.
Good supervisory skills for managing workload and priorities.
Effective problem-solving and collaborative teamwork mindset.
Ability to work under sustained pressure and manage crises when unexpected events occur.
Strong interpersonal and public relations skills with guests at all levels.
All other certification required, including compliance with STCW 95 certification for this position and documents in force at the time of employment.
Possession of a valid Panama Seamen Book.
