Job Description:
It's fun to work in a company where people truly BELIEVE in what they're doing!
Lumentum Switzerland AG is a leading design centre of ultrafast pico- and femtosecond laser systems featuring excellent performance and long-term opto-mechanical stability. We seek a Laser Process Development Engineer to work in a fast-paced, international development environment. You will become a part of a young, ambitious, and highly motivated team based in Zurich, Switzerland, and take over building ultrafast lasers.
As a Laser Process Development Engineer, you will take on challenges in areas that include:
* Product development in close collaboration with the Optical, Electrical, Mechanical, Automation, and Manufacturing Engineering Teams
* Develop manufacturing processes for time effectiveness and quality
* Independent characterization and analysis of laser systems
* Assembly, optimization, and testing of laser prototypes using robot systems
* Define product requirements, optical specifications, and design of optical components, assemblies, and tests
* Execute continuous improvement methods like FMEA, SDR, A3, and 3P
* Drive process improvements and cycle time reduction
* Lead product transfer to the Manufacturing Team in Thailand, including training engineers and technicians, troubleshooting, etc.
PLEASE BRING WITH YOU:
* Master's degree in Physics or Engineering with over 5 years of industry experience in manufacturing optical products
* Strong background in laser optics and experience with opto-mechanical alignment processes
* Experience with Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Quality (DFQ) within a structured product development process in an industrial environment
* Teamwork orientation with strong communication, documentation, and presentation skills, as well as a commitment to continuous improvement
* Experience using test and measurement equipment for laser characterization (autocorrelators, power meters, spectrometers, oscilloscopes, optical and RF spectrum analyzers, etc.)
The role is made for you if you have the ability to multi-task, are a team player with excellent communication skills, and have the drive to design and build software in rapid fashion while applying engineering best practices.
