We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Data Engineer Practice Lead to further expand and strengthen our Data & Cloud Engineering team. You will be part of the top company management, owning the data engineering unit’s P&L, with a unique ability to influence and shape the company’s future direction.
Responsibilities
As a Data Engineering Practice Lead, you will be the ultimate data engineering leader at Visium and have a myriad of exciting responsibilities, such as:
1. Develop and communicate a vision for the data engineering practice that aligns with company objectives, leverages emerging trends for growth, and fosters a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.
2. Engage with potential and existing clients to understand their business needs and outline how we can solve their challenges & provide value
3. Ensure the business unit performs well and grows over time
4. Provide technical guidance to the team on complex data transformation initiatives
5. Collaborate with sales and marketing to present our services, prepare proposals, and present capabilities, while building and maintaining strong client relationships to ensure satisfaction and long-term client relationships.
6. Ensure the delivery of high-quality data engineering projects by overseeing project management, resource allocation, and implementing best practices to meet client expectations and deadlines.
7. Encourage and oversee the development of new data engineering methodologies, tools, and services.
8. Manage team performance, including setting objectives, conducting performance reviews, and promoting professional development.
9. Recruit, train, and mentor data engineering and other team members.
10. Work closely with other business units within the consultancy to integrate data engineering capabilities into broader service offerings.
11. Collaborate with technology partners and vendors to enhance the practice’s capabilities.
12. Ensure data engineering projects comply with legal, regulatory, and ethical standards.
Requirements
13. Master's or in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field.
14. 10+ years of experience in data engineering or closely related field, with a progression from hands-on technical roles to managerial or leadership positions
15. Experience in leading and managing data engineering teams, including hiring, training, and mentoring team members.
16. Demonstrated ability to manage complex, large-scale data engineering projects from conception through to completion, including budget management, timeline adherence, and stakeholder communication.
17. Technical Expertise: A deep understanding of data architecture, database management, ETL processes, big data technologies, and cloud services. Hands-on experience with data engineering tools and technologies is crucial.
18. Client Acquisition & Engagement: A track record of successful client acquisition and engagement in a consulting environment, including requirements gathering, solution design, and stakeholder management.
Additional Qualifications
19. Industry Certifications: Certifications related to data engineering, big data, cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) or project management (PMP, Agile) are a Plus
20. Communication Skills: Exceptional communication skills, both written and oral
