At the heart of our strategy, we are looking for a Splunk Expert in charge of IT Service Monitoring and Automation.
The team
You will join the Middleware and Monitoring team, which we are looking to expand. The team is currently composed of 3 members and we intend to reach 9 in total, spread across 3 regions: Lausanne, Switzerland (4 employees), Singapore (1 employee), Portugal (4 employees).
As a Splunk specialist, you will liaise with the rest of the Monitoring team across all regions, as well as various teams within the organisation.
The present position is based in our headquarters in Lausanne (métro M2, Fourmi).
Your responsibilities
Our key challenge for 2025 is to implement a new observability platform centred around Splunk ITSI and perform the migration from our existing tools to the new platform.
Your role will focus on supporting the implementation of the project (around 60%) as well as handling support requests and run (about 40%).
Therefore, responsibilities will include but won’t be limited to:
* Support of the various tools: Splunk, Dynatrace, Opentelemetry, Cribl, Solarwinds
* Automatisation of the daily tasks (Ansible)
* Support of various dev and prod teams to migrate to the new Splunk (enterprise and ITSI) platform / build dashboard and metrics
* Propose improvement and implement (as much tools as process as KPIs)
Your core competencies
* 2 or more years of experience as a Splunk administrator, handling the following responsibilities:
- Maintaining and managing an indexer cluster
- Maintaining and managing a search head cluster
- Managing hundreds of forwarders using a deployment server
- Troubleshooting internal issues and fine-tuning performances
- Upgrading tiers
- Developing Splunk apps, including data ingestion and transformation, dashboards, reports and alerts
- Optimising search queries and dashboards
- Implementing efficient access control rules
* Experience with IT Service Intelligence or IT essential works is a plus
* Involvement in architecting log-based application monitoring, beyond just engineering Splunk apps
* Experience collecting and exploiting metrics (not traces) in Splunk
* Experience with Ansible is desirable while experience with Automation tower/AWX is a plus. Strong scripting capabilities and a desire to port to Ansible is a good alternative
* Good understanding of Linux system administration (specifically Red Hat based distributions)
* Experience using Git with a team, in projects and for production
* Experience deploying and managing containers in production with Docker
* Understanding of what ETLs do; experience with Cribl is a plus
* Experience with OpenTelemetry is a plus, in particular deploying the collector and implementing data collection
* Experience with Gitlab CI/CD is a plus
* Exposure to Dynatrace is a plus
* Good interpersonal skills, including the ability to conduct presentations and coach others around monitoring related topics
* French speaker and fluent in English
