Job Description:
The Library Assistant plays a vital role at ICS, supporting the educational objectives of the school by ensuring that every member of the community has access to an organized collection of resources and services.
The primary responsibility is to maintain a welcoming atmosphere in the library, providing a conducive environment for students and staff to work independently, collaboratively, and productively.
Key Responsibilities:
* Maintain a well-organized and aesthetically pleasing library environment.
* Instruct students on proper library use and provide guidance on finding resources.
* Operate and maintain various library equipment, including audiovisual equipment and computers.
* Catalogue, process, and shelve library materials, updating catalogues and lists.
* Create engaging library exhibits, including display boards and posters.
* Assist in selecting and ordering library books and materials, researching publishers and preparing purchase requisitions.
* Manage subscriptions and coordinate library schedules with staff members.
* Participate in staff meetings and contribute to a positive school climate.
Requirements:
* Experience working in a school library or related field, with secondary and high-school-age students.
* Fluent English speaker.
* Open-minded, flexible, and team-oriented, with a willingness to learn and take initiative.
* Empathetic towards teachers and students, with excellent communication skills.
* Comfortable with technology and willing to try new ideas.
* Attention to detail and ability to multitask.
* Familiarity with International Education and the International Baccalaureate.
