Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher with experience in Aboriginal Australian languages/cultures to contribute to one of the four QUANTA teams based at ETH Zürich and led by Principal Investigator Rafael Núñez.
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to collaborate closely with the other three QUANTA teams based at University of Bergen, Norway, Max Planck Institute for Evolutionary Anthropology in Leipzig, Germany, and University of Bordeaux-CNRS, France.
* The successful candidate will be responsible for investigating quantification and numeral systems in languages and cultures from Aboriginal Australia in detail.
* The successful candidate will participate in the research team's academic and social activities.
* The working language is English.
* The positions are full-time (41 hours per week) by default, but can be reduced for care-work, health, or wellbeing.
* The ideal starting date is flexible, but it is expected that the position will begin on October 1st. The position is initially for one year at ETH Zurich, with the possibility of an extension at the QUANTA headquarters, the University of Bergen, Norway.
Your Profile
Candidates must:
* hold a doctoral degree in linguistic anthropology (or related fields) prior to commencing at ETH Zürich;
* demonstrate expertise and a strong track record in linguistic anthropology, preferably studying Australian Aboriginal languages or cultures;
* be able to initiate interesting research sub-projects that could be developed independently, but in close collaboration with the rest of the QUANTA multi-disciplinary team.
