Tree Global is entering an exciting growth phase with projected expansion from 3 to 6 country operations and a target to achieve a net asset value of USD 1B within 3 years. We are seeking a motivated, experienced COO to join the senior management team and lead operations through this growth phase and beyond.

* Direct management responsibility for Technical Directors (nursery, forestry, social investment) and Country Directors
Location and travel
* Geneva, Switzerland
* Travel anticipated at 8-12 weeks per year
Role and responsibilities
The Chief Operating Officer (COO) is responsible for the management of all operational aspects of the business of Tree Global. The three core areas for which the COO will take direct responsibility are:
Operating strategy
* Owning, developing and continuously enhancing the operating strategy, ensuring that it links and operates effectively with the overall business strategy and the strategies of the functional and operation divisions
* As a member of the senior management team, supporting the investment finance strategy and activities to ensure that sufficient funding for execution of the operational growth plan
* Developing, implementing monitoring and continuously enhancing the operational risk management plan
* Measuring and reporting on operational performance and developing plans
Country operations
The COO takes direct responsibility for all operating aspects of each country where Tree Global establishes a presence in order to execute on its projects.
* Empowering the country teams with the leadership and resources they need to successfully complete operational initiatives
* Overseeing the operations of the organisation and making any necessary changes to meet business goals and projections
* Developing and controlling all operational budgets
* Partnering with functional support teams on HR, finance, risk management, legal etc
* Measuring the efficiency of the organisation’s operational processes and taking steps to improve them
Program delivery
The COO is responsible for building the central programme delivery services that will support the country operations and ensure that Tree Global builds its operational capacity in a manner that can be scaled rapidly and consistently.
Qualification and capability requirements
Experience
* Minimum experience period: 15+ years work experience with a minimum of 5+ years experience in leadership and management within a multi-national company environment
* Proven track record of establishing and managing operations
* Proven track record of leading rapid growth from early stage to successful and sustainable businesses
* Proven track record of leveraging technology to drive operational performance and efficiency
* Knowledge of carbon markets an advantage
Education
* Formal qualifications: university degree and a relevant post university professional qualification
* Language capabilities: Must be able to work in English with native and non-native English speakers
* Professional proficiency in French is essential
