About the team you are joining
IATA’s Infrastructure & Customer Experience team covers a wide range of topics relating to airport & ANSP infrastructure, how it is charged for, slots, passenger experience, and facilitation.
Within the ICE team, the airport development team engages with airports, governments, and key industry stakeholders regarding effective capacity development and is responsible for the publication of IATA’s Airport Development Reference Manual (ADRM) – a key reference guide in the industry for airport development outlining industry best practice and is used by various stakeholders such as Airports, Master planning experts, and Governments.
The Charges team engages with over 100 airports and ANSPs globally on an annual basis to ensure that airlines have the infrastructure and services needed to serve their customers at a fair cost. This involves engaging governments and providers in negotiations as well as advocating for appropriate economic regulation where needed.
What your day would be like
This internship would support both the Airport Development and Charges teams, approximately 50%-50%.
Airport Development
You will be responsible for the following activities:
* Coordination and administration of ADRM Think Tank Working Group stakeholders contributing to content development.
* Support benchmarking and data collection to inform content development as may be required.
* Monitor the overall Program and Working Group project plans and activities.
* Support coordination between Working Groups and Working Group Leaders where dependencies exist.
* Attend ADRM Think Tank and Working Group meetings to record accurate and succinct minutes and actions.
Airport & ATC Charges
You will be responsible for two main areas:
Market Intelligence
Working with our global team, you would be responsible to coordinate updates or collect information on:
* Airport and ANSP ownership structures
* Information on economic regulation in different countries
* Updates on master data, collect or to review and update information about airports and ANSPs (Who owns them, who regulates them, financial statements, etc.)
Supporting the team’s standard operating procedures
* Review the team priority list and work plan, flagging potential issues including where updates are missing.
* Support the team in tracking quantitative and qualitative benefits from our advocacy efforts, and ensuring post-campaign assessments are complete.
We would love to hear from you if:
* A relevant university degree; having graduated within the last twelve months.
* A post-graduate qualification in either Airport Planning, Management, or Engineering would be an asset.
* An aptitude in desktop research with a basic understanding of airport and ANSP terminology and the associated regulation would be an asset.
* A willingness to help manage small projects with multiple stakeholders.
* Excellent communication skills with the ability and self-confidence to work with stakeholders to a senior management level.
* Ability to make clear presentations and prepare reports based on technical merits and facts.
* Must have strong organizational, mathematical, excel, and modeling skills.
* Fluent spoken & written English is essential.
* Comfortable working on your own and within a team, and be able to self-motivate to achieve results for internal and external stakeholders; a highly motivated candidate that demonstrates willingness to adopt IATA Core Values.
