Department Background

Director of AgriTech Facilities
Under the direction of the Director of Operations and in collaboration with the Associate Dean/Director of Cornell AgriTech in Geneva, N.Y., provide leadership of AgriTech Buildings & Properties, a unit of CALS Office of Capital Projects and Facilities Services (CALS Facilities), along with management of the full range of professional activities for planning and completion of facilities corrective, planned, and preventive maintenance, renovations of existing facilities and new facility construction.
Manage unit spending within specified budget parameters. Manage service centers to meet revenue goals. Provide general facilities management functions such as space allocation, maintenance staffing, training, and workplace health and safety.
Oversee and manage department staff in all functions of the Buildings and Properties team including building repair and maintenance, fleet operations, infrastructure support for field research, heating plant operation, greenhouse and grounds operations, landscaping work, custodial services, capital projects and renovations.
Manage the use of Cornell’s Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS). Develop and oversee a preventative maintenance system. Provide consultation to campus stakeholders related to campus operations, repair and maintenance activities. Manage AgriTech’s use of Cornell’s RAVE emergency notifications system and produce an annual report on fire safety in residential buildings in compliance with annual CLERY Act requirements.
Required Qualifications
* Bachelor’s degree and 7-10 years relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
* Experience in and/or demonstrated commitment to supporting diversity, equity, access, inclusion, and wellbeing.
* Proven experience connecting diversity, inclusion, and wellbeing practices to business goals.
* Proven experience in department team building and effective communication.
* Must possess strong leadership skills and demonstrated experience supervising and developing staff.
* Must demonstrate excellent oral and written communications skills.
* Demonstrated advanced experience with Microsoft Office Suite and other office productivity software.
* Must be able to make sound decisions and navigate through ambiguous situations.
* Must have and maintain a valid unrestricted New York State driver’s license.
* Must successfully complete a background check.
Preferred Qualifications
* Previous experience working in an academic environment and supporting facilities operations.
* Demonstrated experience in facilities/maintenance management and project management.
* Experience in agriculture or agricultural research preferred.
