Our client, a leading global pharmaceutical company based in Basel Campus, is seeking a highly motivated new team member for an exciting role: Legal Specialist B6 ILocation: Basel Duration: 12 months, extendable: to be discussed Pensum: 100%The Role: Serve as global Senior Legal Counsel with main focus on the Procurement (mainly indirect) and secondary focus on Data/Digital & IT within Novartis Operations as well as key lawyer within the Global Procurement, Data/Digital and IT Legal team. Advises the Procurement Categories and when needed D/D & IT Procurement and business function regarding complex agreements & projects. Act as a legal business partner to relevant Procurement and where needed to Data/Digital & IT (Procurement) clients on global level. Major Accountabilities: Act as Senior Legal Counsel for significant global Procurement and where required for D/D & IT projects with high impact to the Novartis group of companies. Manage significant global projects within the Global Procurement, D/D & IT Legal function in close alignment with the Head Legal Global Procurement, D/D & IT. Act as collaborative legal team player to relevant Procurement and where needed to D/D & IT clients. Oversee & lead, advise as well as execute the drafting, review and negotiation of various types of contracts related to the sourcing of goods and services (including where required IT procurement contracts (e.g. IT infrastructure, cloud services, software, IT projects) from third parties and the provision of services to other Novartis companies). Provide pro-active, timely, accurate and business-oriented legal advice to clients within the global procurement and/or D/D & IT functions on day-to-day, as well as on strategic and governance matters. Provide relevant trainings to clients in Procurement and D/D & IT. Lead the drafting and negotiation of various types of complex commercial agreements. Partner with colleagues to contribute expertise as needed. Manage potential disputes and dispute resolution. Assess and manage legal risks to Procurement, D/D & IT balancing competing interests in the best overall company interest. Drive innovation and actively contribute to new strategies supporting Procurement and D/D & IT goals as well as new legal technologies. Actively contribute to the Legal Procurement, D/D & IT function through participation in initiatives to build departmental knowledge and capabilities by sharing best practices. Manage and work with external counsel and, when and as necessary, closely monitor and control related legal spend. Support the Head Legal global Procurement, D/D & IT in the development and execution of the overall Procurement, D/D & IT Legal strategy including the implementation of legal, and risk-related projects. Be agile and able to work in a fast-paced dynamic environment. Ideal background: Minimum 2 – 5 years minimum post-bar experience or 10 years after Swiss master of law, gained either within a multinational corporation and/or top-tier law firm. Relevant experience in leading large and complex legal transactions in Procurement and Data/Digital & IT. Experience in drafting contracts and managing disputes in Procurement and Data/Digital & IT.
