Job Description: JOB PURPOSE
The Crew Talent Acquisition Senior Manager is responsible for designing, implementing, and monitoring the long-term and medium-term shipboard talent acquisition strategy in line with the requirements set for the geographical region of responsibility.
This role works with Operations leaders, Workforce Planning leaders, and Scheduling teams to determine the talent acquisition strategies and actions needed to support scheduling functions and assure maximum adherence to the PAR Requirements of the vessels. This position involves strategic planning, analysis, and coordination to optimize workforce efficiency and productivity while maintaining focus on the assigned Forecasting models to be deployed.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
Strategic Planning:
Manages and implements all Talent Acquisition (TA) initiatives within the designated region to ensure a sufficient pipeline of active crew members to meet both current and projected staffing needs.
Places special emphasis on compliance with demographic and position mix as per guidelines and coordination with the Operational Leaders, Workforce Planning leaders, and Business Performance Directors.
Assures the existence of processes and SLAs to discipline talent acquisition planning, execution, and compliance in order to drive efficiency, accountability, and ownership across the region.
Defines opportunities to re-engineer business processes to streamline and simplify the processes.
Forecasting and Demand Compliance:
Assures adherence to the forecasting models.
Factors in the planning the onboard career path opportunities and needs, integrating them with the hiring strategy in the assigned region.
Establishes and leverages the People Analytics team to assure transparent and real-time visibility of updated data on crewing operations and adjust targets accordingly.
Provides all inputs to the Forecasting and Development Function in order to draft the Forecasting Model year-over-year.
Continuous Improvement and Agency Network Management:
Conducts regular reviews of the agencies within the assigned geographical region.
Provides strategic support and guidance to the agencies within the assigned region of responsibility, in order to assure compliance, execution, and operational effectiveness.
Identifies opportunities for continuous improvement and develops strategy for continuous improvement on the workforce planning process.
Seeks feedback from stakeholders and uses it to refine strategies and methodologies for operational planning.
Collaborates with the Strategy and Development team to identify and develop agency network opportunities, with the scope to assure proper regional presence and meet the desired nationality mix in the operations.
Collaboration and Communication:
Collaborates with Canvas/Regional leaders, BPDs, operational leaders, workforce planning team, and Scheduling HR Coordinators to understand long-term business goals and translate them into actionable, sustainable, and effective TA plans.
Collaborates with department heads, managers, and other stakeholders to understand their workforce needs and challenges.
Communicates TA plans and strategies to ensure alignment with organizational goals.
Assures that all regional and local legislations changes and modifications covering all key areas of sourcing, placement, and deployment of seafarers are promptly channeled for internal communication amongst all crewing operation teams.
Regulatory Compliance:
Ensures compliance with specific local labor laws, maritime labor laws (MLC and others), and regulations, and all industry standards related to talent acquisition management and crewing operations.
Stays informed about changes in local labor laws, maritime labor legislation, immigration laws, and requirements that may impact workforce and recruitment placement and deployment.
Leadership:
Promotes a high-performance culture by cultivating and motivating direct/indirect reports through coaching, mentoring, and providing regular meaningful feedback.
Develops people through effective performance management and ongoing feedback.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Business or related field.
10+ years of experience within the Cruising industry, with 5+ years in a similar role.
2+ years of leadership experience.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Possesses an in-depth understanding of crewing operations, including comprehensive knowledge of Maritime Labor Convention (MLC) regulations and International Labor Organization (ILO) compliance standards.
Previous regional experience in TA functions in at least one of the following: ASEAN, LATAM, EUROPE, AFRICA.
Must be proactive, self-motivated, and work well under pressure.
Demonstrated ability to anticipate staff needs and maintain an upbeat, positive, and can-do attitude.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to prioritize and organize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Demonstrated leadership in cultivating and motivating teams of high-performing individuals, including effectively leading through managers of managers.
Strong computer and analytical skills.
Takes an active role in promoting a positive attitude toward culture, core values, compliance, and safety within operations.
