In a nutshell
Knowledge of bee biology and ecology, experience in analyzing ancient DNA samples, and experience with high-performance computing environments.
Description Conduct whole-genome sequencing and data analysis to assess the genetic diversity of wild bee populations in Switzerland
Develop and implement bioinformatic pipelines for processing and analyzing genomic data in accordance with FAIR principles
Perform population genetic analyses of contemporary and museum samples to understand gene flow, population structure and genetic diversity within and between wild bees over time
Interpret results and contribute to the development of conservation strategies based on genomic information
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including ecologists and honey bee pathologists
Prepare reports, scientific publications and presentations to communicate research findings
Requirements Ph.D. in Bioinformatics, Population Genomics, Molecular Biology, or related fields
Experience with whole-genome sequencing, genetic diversity analyses, and bioinformatic tools
Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Perl, or R
Strong analytical and computational skills
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a research team
Very good knowledge of two official Swiss languages and spoken and written English
