Job Description
We are seeking a Category Manager to support one of our clients, an international humanitarian organisation based in Geneva. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing global categories and sourcing suppliers to meet the needs of the departments and divisions.
Responsibilities
* Global Category Management:
* Define global category strategy to support departmental strategies.
* Agree on global category strategy with internal stakeholders.
* Lead definition of sourcing and supplier relationship strategies to meet customer needs.
* Identify initiatives for continuous improvement of category management.
* Define action plan to ensure delivery of category strategy.
* Communicate category strategy during stakeholder meetings.
* Lead business reviews with stakeholders to review progress and update category strategy.
* Partner with procurement teams to identify unmet needs and drive execution of global strategies.
* Validate purchasing files above financial threshold and ensure compliance with policies and procedures.
* Coach and train site buyers and category buyer/s.
* Sourcing and Supplier Management:
* Engage proactively with stakeholders to anticipate needs and manage expectations.
* Take part in stakeholders' annual budget review to identify and plan sourcing initiatives.
* Establish effective network with suppliers, internal customers, category and site buyers.
* In relation with requesters, define technical and functional business requirements.
* Prospect and validate potential suppliers according to registration procedure.
* Lead or structure request for information and request for tenders for categories and sub-categories.
* Lead business stakeholder's engagement in selection, evaluation, qualification and management of suppliers.
* Manage risks through proper contracting process and involvement of key stakeholders.
* Ensure implementation of signed contracts and guarantee smooth handover to regional/local procurement.
* Exploit synergies and ensure optimal procurement support for sourcing projects implementation.
* Support on-time in full delivery of sourcing projects.
* Manage supplier relationship as per category strategy and suppliers' tier categorization.
* Work with Suppliers, Procurement Officer and Planning to reach OTIF target.
* Monitor and report supplier performance during regular business reviews.
* Develop fact-based briefs for supplier meetings.
* Implement EDI with relevant suppliers.
* Audit procurement files by applying standard operating procedures and processes.
* Maintain availability of procurement documentation in compliance system.
* Support and communicate procurement policy and processes to stakeholders.
* Analysis and Reporting:
* Lead data collection for global category strategy.
* Analyze demand, supply, market trend, cost drivers and assess opportunities.
* Perform Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) analysis for strategic items.
* Participate in annual budgeting exercise and provide visibility of sourcing projects.
* Build sourcing pipeline and update status on a regular basis.
* Contribute to cost reduction objectives and track cost avoidance/savings.
* Contribute to Procurement key performance indicators and provide monthly input to unit dashboard.
Expected Profile
* Experience: 12-15 years of professional experience, including 5-10 years in Indirect procurement.
* Solid experience: in contracts negotiation, contracts management, stakeholder management and supplier relationship management.
* Ability: to monitor complex activities within a global organisation and analyze purchase requests.
* Previous experience: in another International Humanitarian Organisation or field experience is a plus.
* Knowledge: of procure-to-pay (P2P) process and use of ERP software.
* Qualifications: Master in Procurement.
* Language skills: Proficient in English and French; other languages appreciated.
